I am a qualified Nutritional Therapist and a member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT). I am also registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). I am also a registered Foresight Practitioner.
I completed a degree in Psychology and Counselling in 2001. Throughout my degree I enjoyed learning counselling skills and I was interested in the role of the therapeutic relationship. After University my interest in nutrition was sparked while working with autistic children in a behavioural therapy role. I learned about the biochemical factors involved in autism and also the links between food and behaviour. As I began to learn more about nutrition and particularly the effects of diet and lifestyle on mental health it seemed that nutritional therapy combined these areas of interest, moving from a mind centred approach to a combination of body and mind.
I decided on a career where I would be able to use my degree and my interest in nutrition in a one-to-one basis with clients and so I committed to developing my skills further. In 2003 I began training as a nutritional therapist at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition. I completed a two year science foundation course and a three year Nutritional Therapy Diploma from which I graduated in 2009.
My passion for food extends outside of work as I have a keen interest in cooking for fun, gardening and growing my own vegetables. I also have extensive experience with children having worked as a nanny. I’m also currently involved as a volunteer with the Young Parents Project in Brighton which is a scheme set up to advise and support parents aged 25 and under, to understand how the food they eat affects their own and their children’s health and wellbeing.
The focus of nutritional therapy is the enhancement of health through changing the diet and lifestyle of individuals. Nutritional therapy treats the whole person and takes into account biochemical individuality. Treatment may also involve manipulation of nutritional status with the use of food supplements. Alongside digestive complaints like Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and constipation, nutritional therapy can support improvements in a wide range of conditions which may not initially appear related to diet, such as:
• Stress
• Depression
• Allergies
• Endometriosis
• Diabetes and blood sugar problems
• Lethargy
• Behavioural problems including hyperactivity
• Infertility
• Chronic Fatigue
• Weightloss
• Eczema
• Acne
• Migraines
I offer one to one consultations with individuals but also work with couples, families and children (with parent / guardian supervision)
Prior to meeting for the initial consultation you will be asked to complete a detailed questionnaire (downloadable here). This will provide me with information about your current diet and lifestyle as well as your medical history. If you have any problems with the form or want to provide this info in a different way, please give me a call.
The initial consultation will last one hour during which time a detailed case history will be taken and your current health concerns will be discussed in order to establish goals.
Explanations of possible underlying factors will be offered and a practical and realistic programme will be developed. The nutritional programme will take into account both personal preferences and individual financial situations.
Appropriate supplements may be recommended and in certain circumstances tests may also be recommended. For tests available on the NHS you may be asked to visit your GP. Other tests are available from highly reputable private laboratories.
It is usual for us to agree a series of 40 minute follow up appointments, the first one being around 4 to 6 weeks later. These allow us to review your progress and give us a chance to change or develop the programme that was initially agreed. Although there’s no obligation to continue or any type of ‘tie-in’, most people find that the best results are achieved with at least two follow up appointments.
One to One Consultations
My charges are £60 per hour. Initial consultations will be 1 hour. Follow up consultations are usually between 30 and 45 minutes and are charged on a pro rata basis.
Initial consultation 1hr £60
Couples Consultations
It is usual for the initial meeting to last 1.5hrs (£90) and follow up consultations to last an hour.

Cooking Coaching
At the heart of my business is a real love of food – people are often put off a so called ‘healthy’ diet because they believe it doesn’t offer a good variety of flavours, or that preparation times are too limiting. I offer a tailor made coaching service to help you build confidence in the kitchen in creating your own enjoyable and healthy meals. Prices vary – please contact me for further details.
